The choice of plant-based food keeps on growing. Dr Rosilene Ribeiro of the University of Sydney’s School of Life and Environmental Science claims that unlike animal foods, plant sources of protein lack certain types of amino acids.
This means that vegans need to eat a variety of protein sources to get the right mix of amino acids. Besides, animal sources are higher in protein content per gram, which means that one needs a bigger portion of a plant food in order to get the right amount of protein.
